What Does a Credit Manager Do?

Credit Managers are responsible for assisting in the approval, rejection, moderation, and auditing of loan requests from customers, clients, and companies. Credit Managers are responsible for performing extensive audits and forecasts to calculate and then set appropriate interest rates based on established guidelines and risk assessments.

In addition, Credit Managers are responsible for monitoring payments, collection procedures, and the accounts to ensure that they are not in risk of default or delinquency. Credit Managers are responsible for keeping an extensive list of loan applications to compare and contrast if a client has filed for a loan application in the past and the status of those loan applications. Credit Managers are also responsible for assisting in the creation, updating, and modification of credit scoring models, forecasts, and prediction methods.

Credit Managers are also responsible for working closely with key decision-makers and other senior financial analysts to identify potential credit changes, improve revenue and profit generation, and improve the collection methods and stats of outstanding debts. Credit Managers are also responsible for working closely with Credit Officers to manage individual accounts and ensure loan practices and credit offerings are within recommended guidelines and internal metrics are being met.
